Military Record--French-Indian War and Revolutionary War
George Mytinger Brisbin (son of Samuel, grandson of Capt John) wrotein the 1899:95 volume of Notes & Queries, Captain John Brisbin was inthe English army before the Revolution and then received a large landgrant from George the III located in Green River, Kentucky. Butduring the war his papers became scattered, land monopolized bystrangers and lost to him.
A Correction Reply appeared in Notes & Queries vol XIV from "J.B.R."that Captain John was a soldier in the French & Indian War and he helda lieutenant's commission in the English army. Part of the timeduring the war he was in Canada, 1776 and thought he was with Gen.Wolfe on the Plains of Abraham. For his service he received 2,000acres of land in Virginia at the close of the war. Returned home toBird-in-Hand and was appointed Collector of Military fines where hewas so kind-hearted he ended up owing the government for theuncollected fines and died a poor man.
At the end he was residing with his daughter, Elizabeth BrisbinRutherford in Swatara Township, Dauphin, PA and is buried in the oldPaxtang-Derry Presbyterian Cemetary. The inscription on the stonereads:

Marjorie Morrow sent an ancestor chart showing the father of Capt.John to be William Brisbin b 11 Mar 1707 in Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland,and that he was married about 1725, but she doesn't say to whom. Sheshows the father of this William to be a James Brisbin m to BeatrixCambell and has no data on them at all. She also gives no source.
